24) Sacramento Kings 28-54 in 2012-2013. 13th in the West. 4th in the Pacific.
With new owners and more assurance the Kings will be in Sacramento for a while, it's gotta be a good year for Kings fans. The city that nearly lost its team were able to hold onto their franchise, and now look forward to building a future contender. This team has a long way to go, but right now the fans and management are looking up. This team could be on the rise sooner than others think.
Acquired: Carl Landry, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Greivis Vasquez
Drafted: Ben McLemore (#7), Ray McCallum (#36)
Lost: Tyreke Evans, Toney Douglas
Depth Chart: Greivis Vasquez (PG), Ben McLemore (SG), Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (SF), Carl Landry (PF), DeMarcus Cousins (C)
Bench: Jason Thompson (PF), Isaiah Thomas (PG), John Salmons (SF), Marcus Thornton (SG), Patrick Patterson (PF)
Up: DeMarcus Cousins - This is officially his team. The team sent out Tyreke Evans and will now rely on Cousins to be the centerpiece to their franchise. While there have been conduct issues to deal with when it comes to DeMarcus, he's a very solid Center, and will be quite the player for the city of Sacramento to build their team around.
Down: Isaiah Thomas - Thomas had another super strong year last year...so why is his stock down? Because somehow, this team thought trading for another PG would be a good decision. Thomas beat out Evans and Douglas for the Point Guard spot last year, but now has to deal with Greivis Vasquez. It's gotta be frustrating for Thomas right now.
X-Factor: Carl Landry - One of the most underrated players on this team might be Landry. He's been proven to be a quality Power Forward in the League, filling in for such players as David West and David Lee and providing near what those star players offered. The injury will hurt Landry for now, but he'll get his chance to be the PF on the team, and could be the key for Cousins to have even more success.
Question to Ponder...Whose the starting Point Guard on this team?
Last year Isaiah Thomas was the main man at the Point Guard, and one of the only highlights of the year for Sacramento. Now the New Orleans Hornets stud Point Guard Greivis Vasquez from last year gets sent to Sacramento. This could cause some controversy. Both were starters last year and both surprised a lot of people in how well they played. Now the Kings will have to take the flack from one of them as they have to decide which one will start at Point Guard. Which would you start? It's something to think about.
Bold Prediction for the Sacramento Kings: Jimmer Fredette FINALLY gets traded!
It's pretty easy to lose sight of Jimmer in the list of all the guards Sacramento has. Ever since his crazy college days at BYU, Fredette has been lost on the Kings bench. Many have wondered how the heck he hasn't been traded yet with teams such as Boston and Oklahoma City. I wouldn't expect the Kings to hoard him any longer with the new look of the team. Expect Fredette to be on the move this year.
Projected Record: 29-53 13th in the West, 4th in the Pacific.
